Going Dark, for the week...

So, life has kicked my butt.  The last month and a half has been rough with family stuff.  I think I'm getting close to being caught up with that family stuff.  Oh, there are things that need to still be done and calls to be made but for the most part the immediate items are done.  Or I think so.  The things to come should fall into place, and a routine with me as the days go by.

I'm okay.  There is nothing wrong with me.  I'm not going anywhere.  There was a sudden death in the family and my handicap father needed to be taken care of and be placed in a home as he is beyond my care ability.  It was rough getting through it all, but needed done and is starting to mellow a bit from the flurry of activity that happens at the immediate time of happening.

But, with all that's happened it's taken from the book time.  Reading and writing.  Even posts to create here.  So, I've decided to take the week off from blogging.  I'm going to try to do some catching up with reading (I know as a blogger, Ha! but worth a try) and get a few things in line for my writing projects.  I'm working on Camp NaNoWriMo now and not getting far as I need to get through the previous novella before I can start the second.  I still haven't finished my Baltimore posts seeing as the shit hit the fan when I came home from Baltimore.

I'm hoping a week will give me time to get through all this stuff.  I plan to have loads of great things in store for you when I return.  Reviews of books/stories I get finished and so much more energy to throw myself in here again.  Also, my 4th blog birthday is around the corner too.  So those posts are on the list to start preparing this week too.

I want to get caught up with things, get my ducks all in a row, and ready to roll with the punches as we go.  I've got lots in store, books to read and interviews to create to send to amazing authors.  And more giveaways too!  Yep, lots to happen here on the blog, but I need time to get everything settled and back to so sort of control, which means there is stuff to get done and not floating around distracting me in way of books.

  1. I've done the same thing many times -- blogging's great but it takes a lot of time and many things in life take priority. Take the time, do what you have to do and good luck! I hope all goes well for you!

  4. Melissa, I'm sorry to hear you've had such a rough time. It's not easy finding and setting up care for a loved one when they get beyond what you can do. I know; we've been there. And I'm so sorry for the death in your family. I'm sending you great big virtual hugs. You take all the time off you need to recuperate and heal -- your well-being comes first.

  6. Congrats on "taking care of you" just for a bit, even a week break while you work on things for the blog without being tied to a deadline helps recharge.

Melissa sounds like you have it under control, sorry for your loss and sorry that your Dad has gotten to the point he is unable to do more for himself as know that really is stressful on everyone and it is a hard thing to face when one wishes to keep a beloved parent close at hand.

Hugs and see you when you return full of new stuff to share! :-)

    1. Michelle Miller, thank you. I think there is light at the end of the tunnel for family stuff (or at least some organization to it). But I'm so far behind in blogging. *sigh* Thank you.

  11. So sorry to hear about your problems, I feel like we are in the same boat, sort of...

It's been a crazy, rough year for me as well, and the summer has kicked my a** as well. My Dad has been in a nursing home since Dec, 2012 and it's been tough since it's over an hour away, and I have to deal with all his medical issues. Plus, with 4 kids and my mom I feel like a limo driver-without the limo! Then I had other family issues this summer, that have been stressful, and I seriously have considered shutting the blog down, but I'm trying to hold off till Fall and see where life takes me. Life is tough, that's for sure and hopefully things will get better for you and me both. Take care ((Hugs))

    1. Oh wow Sivlerlight. I'm so sorry! It's hard. Really hard! trying to juggle it all. Your family at home, the parents, the extra added with the home and medical stuff. Then to do what you love, you are exhausted by then. **HUGS** If you need any help, please ask. It's a lot. Do take care of yourself too!
