Top 5 Novella Picks!! and GIVEAWAY!

For my Blogoversary I enjoy sharing the Top 5 reads of different genre for the last year, June 1, 2012 through July 1, 2013.  These are the memorable reads with high recommendations from me.  Well worth looking into.

I can only bring myself to do the last year, as trying to figure out the best of all time...yea, no.  I love to many books on all different levels to try and figure that out.

Also, part of what makes this such an amazing thing, is my fellow bloggers.  I love sharing books with fellow bloggers and learning what they have loved to share with me as well.  This is a huge thing with me in the booking community.  I have with me a book lover of Novellas.  Sharing their Top 5 reads for the last year as well.

My Picks:
Alright, first.  It's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to.  Alright, not cry, but break the rules.  I'm allowed this one time.  Yes, I have more than 5 picks for you.  But in their defense, they are novella's and quick reads...

Badlands by Seleste deLaney - (Amazon Kindle) This is a series in novella length stories.  There is so much to love in this series, romance, steampunk elements, and mystery and more.

Clockwork Mafia by Seleste deLaney - (Amazon Kindle) Oh this is the second in the series of Badlands.  Again. Just so much love for the elements present here!  I can't tell you enough!

9 Crimes by Skyla Dawn Cameron - This one mended my heart a bit after reading Exhumed.  It's an amazing companion story to Exhumed from the other view point.

The High Priestess by Katee Roberts - (Amazon Kindle)  Aaah, yes.  This was a sweet little novella starting out a series. Right after reading this one I purchased the first book, now if time would hold still I could read it as I WANT TOO!

The Ghost of Vampire Present by Seleste deLaney - (Amazon Kindle)  Mmmm, this one caught me for a few reasons.  It's A Christmas Carol with a vampire twist.  LOVED the whole idea here.  And it goes so splendidly with the series, and could be read before the first book. :)

Dark Whispers by Krista D. Ball - (Amazon Kindle)  Oh yes.  This is another novella series I've been taken with.  She sees and talks to ghosts.  But this book is the third in the series and so takes a step in the darker side of things for Rachel.  I do love this series.

I'm thrilled to have another Novella lover with me today, Kindle-aholic from Kindle-aholic's Book Pile and her amazing picks:
Thanks for letting me join the fun and congrats on your bloggiversary! May there be many to come!

I love short stories. They give me a quick pick me up and sometimes the perspective of favorite supporting characters. Here are my 5 favorites:

1. Here There Be Monsters (Iron Seas 0.5) by Meljean Brook - (Amazon Kindle) One of my fav romances. This is a longer novella and really feels like a complete story. Mad Eben Machen, notorious Captain, but a teddy bear when it comes to Ivy, a master smith. The bar scene is near the top of my fav romance moments.

2. Magic Dreams (Kate Daniels 4.5) by Ilona Andrews - (Amazon Kindle) Dali and Jim's story. We all know Kate is a badass. In comparison Dali is not a ferocious physical fighter, but she kicks ass in her own way. Never count out the smartest girl in the room.

3. Meridian Six by Jaye Wells - (Amazon Kindle) Dystopian UF with vampires. This is dark and action packed with no romance. Vamps have taken over and it is not happy funtimes for humanity. I can't wait for the next one.

4. Unfallen by Lilith Saintcrow - (Amazon Kindle) a girl lives in a US closely resembling Atwood's Handmaid's Tale and her best friend just told her he is the Antichrist. Very short but I loved the different perspective.

5. Happily Never After by Jeaniene Frost (Night Huntress series) - (Amazon Kindle) Set in Cat and Bones' world but they only make a cameo. This has vamp Chance doing a favor for Bones. He needs to save the lovely Isabela from marriage to the mob. Throw in one of the most awesome granny characters I've read as well as a sweet romance and you have a very fun read.

Oh Kindle-aholic, you've just told me of two novella's I had NO IDEA about! And they are on my list now. :D Thank you!!

  5. I'd have to go with Raw Deal by Mark Henwick. Very good UF novella. Sort of a prequel to his series and now I want to read the series. Not the most uplifting of tales though.
